Aimpoint COA and A-CUT Named Red Dot of the Year by Guns & Ammo

Aimpoint® COA® and A-CUT® have been awarded Red Dot of the Year by Guns & Ammo, one of the most respected firearm publications in the world.

Every year, Guns & Ammo highlights the most innovative new products on the market. Through extensive testing, evaluation, and reader insight, the editorial team selects solutions that stand out in terms of performance, durability, and design.

In the Red Dot category, Aimpoint’s COA and A-CUT system impressed the jury with its technical precision and unique integration between optic and firearm platform. Developed in close collaboration with Glock and launched in early 2025, the system quickly attracted attention for its stability, construction, and ease of use.

“We are honored to receive this award from Guns & Ammo. COA and A-CUT represent the next step in Aimpoint’s innovation work, where our tradition of reliability meets new solutions built for today’s needs,” says Per Lovatt, CEO of Aimpoint AB.

In its motivation, Guns & Ammo highlights how the A-CUT interface locks the optic in all directions and eliminates recoil forces on screws and threads – a common weakness in other mounting solutions. The editors describe the pairing between COA and A-CUT as genius, noting that it redefines how red dot sights are mounted on pistols.

The COA optic itself was praised for its compact closed-emitter design, intuitive controls, and crisp 3.5 MOA dot. Using a CR2032 battery that provides more than five years of continuous operation, COA combines Aimpoint’s characteristic simplicity with modern performance.

“Aimpoint continues to set the standard for red dot sights. The innovative design, material choices, manufacturing quality, and proven reliability made A-CUT and COA clear winners,” says Eric Poole, Editor-in-Chief of Guns & Ammo.

During its introduction year, Glock held exclusivity for pistols featuring A-CUT and COA. After January 20, 2026, other firearm manufacturers will be able to license A-CUT as a mounting solution – making COA available to an even broader market.
