Cissi Lindberg takes silver at the IPSC World Shoot in South Africa

Aimpoint shooter Cissi Lindberg on the podium at the World Championship.

When the world’s largest dynamic shooting competition was held in South Africa in September, Swedish shooter Cissi Lindberg delivered one of the most impressive performances of the event. After two intense competition weeks at Frontier Shooting Range in Matlosana, the Aimpoint shooter claimed silver in the Production Optics Lady division at this year’s IPSC World Shoot.

“I’m very pleased with my performance. I felt stable from the first to the last day and managed to stay focused all the way,” says Cissi Lindberg.

A total of more than 1,800 shooters from around 50 countries took part in the competition, which is the largest in the history of the IPSC.

Preparation, pressure, and precision

Cissi describes the competition as both intense and demanding. The technical stages were difficult, but the practical conditions also put pressure on the shooters.

“We received reports that it was complete chaos at the range just days before the start, and that stressed me quite a bit. Many competitors also had problems with ammunition, which added extra mental pressure. I was lucky – my match ammunition worked in my pistol, but there are so many things that can affect performance,” she says.

She spent two weeks in South Africa, with six competition days and a final shoot-off on the closing day.

“It was a long journey, both mentally and physically. I’ve trained enormously for this, both shooting and mental training. I also prepared carefully with my equipment and kept my firearms in top condition. It was the preparation that allowed me to perform the way I did,” says Cissi.

Stability under pressure

Despite the narrow margin to the gold medal, Cissi brings home something even more important from South Africa – proof that her mental training has paid off.

“I’ve realized that I’m able to perform under pressure. I was nervous on the first day, but then I found my calm. I did my thing and stopped caring about what others think. That’s the first time I’ve felt that way,” she says.

The reactions back home have not been long in coming.

“People have been fantastic. Colleagues, family, friends, and partners – everyone has reached out. It means a lot,” says Cissi.

Aimpoint as part of the journey

Cissi has been using a red dot sight from Aimpoint for several years, and she is clear that the collaboration has been crucial.

“It wouldn’t have been possible without Aimpoint. I could never have made this kind of commitment without your support – both in the preparation phase and during the championship. We also had Ola from Aimpoint with us in South Africa, which made the whole experience even better.”

Ola Nordström, Sales Representative at Aimpoint and himself a pistol shooter, was on site throughout the World Shoot and was able to support the company’s shooters. Erik Stjernlöf, who is also uses optics from Aimpoint, took part in the competition as well. However, he experienced problems with his ammunition and was unfortunately unable to perform at the level he had hoped and trained for.

Looking ahead to the European Championship

The rest period for the shooters will be short. The next major goal, the European Championship in Hungary, is already coming up in June.

“I need to rest both my body and my mind for a while, but winter training will start soon. It feels inspiring to reload with the European Championship in sight,” says Cissi Lindberg.

The new season also opens new opportunities for Aimpoint shooters. The new COA® pistol sight will be released for general sale, and Cissi, who has so far been shooting with the Aimpoint® Acro®, plans to make the switch.

“I’ll change to it in January when the COA becomes available.”

The Aimpoint COA® was introduced in January 2025 and during its first year was only available for purchase in combination with a pistol from Glock.
