Aimpoint sights are used by some of the best shooters in the world. Welcome to Dynamic Shooting, the “Formula One” of shooting sports.
When speed is everything.
Dynamic shooting is a sport unlike anything else. It tests a shooter’s nerve, stamina and shooting ability by requiring him or her to combine accuracy and speed to successfully solve different types of shooting ”problems”. A mix of static and moving targets at different dis tances, forces the shooter to think about when and how to fire at each target in order to achieve the the most points per second – all while running through an obstacle course. In dynamic shooting, astonishing feats of skill are performed at warp speed, with both hands. Two of Aimpoint’s sponsored athletes tell us more.
Preparation is key
Swedish police officer Cecilia Lindberg is the reigning European Champion in the “Production optics” division. Cecilia, who has been training and competing in dynamic shooting since 2013, is a firm believer in preparation. Not only does she spend endless hours at the range shooting and training all the different skills such as drawing and reloading, she also keeps herself fit through running and gym work. In addition, she employs a mental coach that helps her filter out the things that cause stress and get in the way of her performance. One of those things are her equipment. “I only want stuff I can really trust. It makes for one less thing to worry about when competing”, says Cecilia. Last year she joined team Aimpoint and has not looked back. “It was definitely a step in the right direction. Not only do I find Aim point’s red dot much more distinct, I also like the fact that I can now shoot in pouring rain or with the sun in my face, without the sight flaring up.”
“I have broken every sight I’ve ever used. But never an Aimpoint.”
The value of peace of mind
Reining Swedish champion Erik Stjernlöf, who works in IT when he is not training and competing, is another recent addition to Team Aimpoint. But he’s not new to our red dot sights. Born in the deep forests of Sweden, he claims to have “used Aimpoint sights for hunting all my life.” Erik is somewhat of gun smith and often makes modifications to his own and other shooter’s weapons. He competes in the Open division and uses his own “overloaded” cartridges that put a lot of strain on his equipment. “Guns are not made to withstand these types of pressures. And after a while they break. I’ve actually had to shoot with a damaged gun during competition, and that can play tricks on your mind. Ideally, you shouldn’t have to worry about your equipment. Aimpoint sights give me peace of mind since I know that they can take a beating.”
