Red-Dot Clay Shooting Comes to CPSA Competition
In 2026, competitive clay shooting in the UK takes an important step forward.
Through a new collaboration with the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association (CPSA), Aimpoint will sponsor and support a dedicated competition class allowing the use of red-dot sights in CPSA Sporting events. For the first time, shooters with eye dominance challenges are given a clear, structured pathway to compete on equal terms.
This is about widening participation, strengthening the sport, and making sure more shooters can stay competitive for longer.

For shooters with eye dominance issues
Eye dominance challenges affect a large proportion of shooters – often increasing with age, injury, or natural changes in vision. For many, this can limit consistency and confidence, even after years of experience.
This collaboration recognises that reality and responds to it.
By introducing a red-dot competition class, the CPSA and Aimpoint are creating space for more shooters to continue developing, competing, and enjoying the sport at a high level – without redefining what clay shooting is.

Designed to Support the Shooter
Aimpoint red-dot sights provide a simple visual reference that helps some shooters maintain alignment and balance throughout the shot.
They do not replace technique. They support it.
Stance, swing, timing, and follow-through remain exactly as they have always been. The red dot serves as a reference point that helps the shooter stay connected to what matters: the target, the movement, and the shot.
For shooters affected by eye dominance challenges, that reference can make the difference between frustration and flow.
Shotgun-Specific Optics
The Aimpoint® Acro® S-2 is designed specifically for shotgun shooting.
Mounted directly on the ventilated rib, with a low optical axis, it integrates naturally with the gun and the shooter’s existing setup. Compact, lightweight, and unobtrusive, it is built to support consistency without drawing attention away from the target.
The AIMPOINT Micro™ S-1 is also approved for use within the CPSA trial programme.

A New Competition Class, Backed by Commitment
As part of the collaboration, Aimpoint is investing directly in the sport:
- A dedicated annual prize fund across major CPSA Sporting Championships
- Sponsored championship entries for registered red-dot shooters
- Educational content explaining how red-dot sights are used in clay shooting
- Have-a-go opportunities at CPSA events and selected grounds
This is not just about equipment. It is about knowledge, confidence, and long-term participation.

The Aimpoint® Acro™ S-2
Engineered specifically for shotgun applications, the ACRO S-2 combines a compact, closed-emitter design with an ultra-low integrated rib mount to fit most ventilated shotgun ribs (6–12 mm). Built for demanding field use, the ACRO S-2 delivers up to 50,000 hours of operation on a single battery, is submersible to 5 meters, and weighs just 68 g. Ideal for bird hunting, small game, and sporting disciplines.
